> THE BREAKFAST
The Garden House breakfast
begins with freshly squeezed oranges (or granadillas).
Then you help yourself to Annette’s homemade
muesli (and if you’re really nice she’ll let
you have the recipe), yoghurt and freshly
picked local berries and other fruits in season.
This is followed by delicious Franschhoek
smoked salmon-trout (on its own, or on toasted
brown bread), warm, freshly baked croissants
served with jams of the valley, and homemade
marmalade, and a selection of excellent
local cheeses.
And of course, there is as
much freshly made coffee as you like and a
choice of teas from the local South African
brew, ‘Rooibos’, to ‘builder’s tea” for those
who want to get back to basics!
Breakfast is served on the 'stoep' (verandah)
with wonderful views across the valley to
the Franschhoek and Drakenstein Mountains.
Sometimes, you are treated to a dramatic view
of the “cloudfall” - a wave of cloud continually
breaking over the mountain ridge vaporising
as it slowly cascades down the slope.
