THE LIFE
Things to
do (in no particular order) when you stay
at the Garden House in Franschhoek without
eating or drinking – well almost!
- Visit the fascinating Huguenot Monument and Museum
- Stroll down to Roubaix House Gallery
to see the exquisite pottery and glasswork and maybe order a dinner service.
- Drop in at La Cotte Wine Sales and chat to Ludwig Maske
about local wines.
- Browse around the art galleries
- Buy or have some superb jewellery made in
a few hours.
- Borrow our bikes to ride round the village, visit a few vineyards or go off road up some old jeep tracks
- Go for a run
- Ride well behaved horses from nearby stables and, if you're experienced, ride into the hills with a friend
- Go for a hike with a retired professor who will tell you all about the history, geology and flora and fauna of the valley and maybe take you boulder hopping in the upper reaches of the Berg River
- For some wonderful views take a two to four hour hike from the top of the Franschhoek pass
- Play tennis at the Franschhoek Tennis Club
- Every Friday evening in the summer, enjoy honky tonk jazz and a glass of wine on the lawn at La Grange
- Listen to a classical concert once a month in the La Motte Wine Cellar
- Cuddle up in a double seat for an art house movie at the Screening Room
- Go with Annette to feed hungry dogs and cats in the nearby township
- Drive round the village in a classic car
- Play golf at courses 15 - 20 minutes away
- Pamper yourself to beauty treatments in the village or by visiting beautician
- And when you've done all that you can swim in our truly sparkling pool!
